Commercial Gas Engineer – Southwest (Ideally based out of somerset)


Pivotal construction recruitment is working alongside a rapidly growing Mechanical Engineering contractor based in Bristol. They are seeking a skilled operative to join their team as a Commercial gas engineer.

Performing both planned a reactive maintenance on a verity commercial premises throughout the Southwest.

It’s crucial to have a positive outlook and be eager to pursue excellence. The successful candidate will need to deal with people at all levels, including our clients, therefore in addition to their practical talents, they should also have outstanding communication skills.

Role Overview:

Full-time permanent role, working 42.5 hours per week (plus overtime)

Responsible for a range of minor installations and maintenance across different sites * Liaison with the helpdesk regarding work orders

Complete the necessary paperwork for compliance and submit reports on time.

Working with projects, planned and reactive maintenance teams; working in a customer-focused environment where quality and service are paramount; availability for after-hours call outs and occasional weekend work; and ensuring that every task is completed to the highest standard of workmanship and safety

Skills required:

Recognized residential and commercial gas credentials:

Commercial: CODNCO1, CIGA1, ICPN1, TPCP1/1A; laundry and catering are optional but preferred.

Domestic: CKR1, HTR1, CCN1, CENWAT

Working knowledge and expertise with RAMS and PTW * Desirable manufacturer training

Renewable energy is preferred.

Person spec:

  • Have experience working in a dynamic, reactive maintenance capacity
  • Have a full driver’s licence
  • Have had a DBS check
  • Be able to work from plans yet be self-reliant
  • Have a customer-focused attitude
  • Have a flexible mentality for reactive duties
  • Pay close attention to detail.
  • Awareness of Health and Safety
  • Highly customer focused
  • Experience of working within a mobile workforce
  • Experience dealing with customers and suppliers
  • Proactive and enthusiastic team player
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Willingness to grow within a growing business
