Small works installation engineer- Bristol – Permanent

Pivotal construction recruitment is working alongside a rapidly growing Mechanical Engineering contractor based in Bristol. They are seeking a skilled operative to join their team as a small works installations engineer.

Performing small works tasks for our quickly growing small works team, such as boiler room installations, pipefitting, plumbing fit outs, and plant improvements.

It’s crucial to have a positive outlook and be eager to pursue excellence, quality, and safety. The successful candidate will need to deal with people at all levels, including our clients, therefore in addition to their practical talents, they should also have outstanding communication skills.

Overview of the role:

Full-time, permanent position; 42.5 hours per week of work (plus overtime)

Work in a customer-focused environment where quality and service are paramount; ensure that every task is carried out to the highest standard of workmanship and safety; availability for out-of-hours calls; Commercial/Domestic heating, plumbing, and upgrade works; AC and renewable installations; Responsibilities for a variety of minor installations across multiple sites

Role summary:

Full-time, permanent position with a weekly work schedule of 42.5 hours (plus overtime)

Working in a customer-focused environment where quality and service are paramount, ensure that every task is carried out to the highest standard of workmanship and safety, and be available for out-of-hours work.

Commercial/Domestic heating, plumbing, and upgrade works.

AC and renewable installations.


Ability to operate independently and in a team as well as the ability to meet deadlines under pressure to complete small works projects on time and within budget. Recognized domestic and commercial gas qualifications are also required.

  • RAMS & PTW working knowledge and expertise
  • CSCS card

Desirable skills:

  • F-Gas
  • Renewable energy desirable

Person specification includes the following:

  • Full driving licence
  • DBS check
  • Ability to work from plans while also being able to take initiative to lead oneself
  • Customer-focused attitude
  • Flexibility in mindset for reactive tasks
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Awareness of health and safety
  • Experience in a dynamic, reactive role
  • Working with clients and suppliers

  • Between £40 and £45K, depending on experience.
  • Excellent overtime rates of time and a half and double time, price work, and bonuses available
  • Fully expensed transportation to the job site
